January 9-31, 2015 -- The 2015 AFC Asian Cup, organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), will be hosted in Australia. The winner of the tournament will earn the right to compete for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which is to be hosted by Russia. Australia will open the tournament against Kuwait in Melbourne, whilst defending champions Japan begin their campaign against Palestine in Newcastle.
